Jacquinta Nelson, Founder and Head Coach of STEP Movement, LLC, created the organization to provide the guidance and support she once sought as a young Black girl in search of a positive, productive, and purposeful outlet. STEP, which stands for Supporting Them Express Their Passion, embodies Jacquinta’s vision of using step as a means for empowerment and growth. With over 15 years of experience in stepping, community development, and building collegiate step teams, she has expanded her passion throughout the Kansas City area. STEP Movement offers a community-based step team for girls aged 8 to 18, a comprehensive curriculum adaptable from kindergarten to college, and expert consulting services for K-12 school-affiliated teams.

Internationally recognized, STEP Movement earned 11 awards and tied for third place in the 2021 World of Step International Virtual Competition. The organization has built partnerships with schools across the region, serving over 100 students with academic support, community service opportunities, and mentorship.
