Academic Support
Our academic support program offers tutoring, college advisory sessions, and scholarship opportunities. In 2021, Coach Jacquinta and assistant Jameila Ward hosted Learning Labs, tutoring ten children from grades 3-8. Students in the program saw a 100% grade improvement, backed by testimonials from parents and school staff.
Scholarships are available through our College Experience program, the Kansas City, Missouri Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta's Cotillion, and the Mu Omega and Beta Omega Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha's Debutante Ball. Following in Coach Jacquinta’s footsteps three graduates completed the Cotillion, and two current members will participate in the Debutante Ball their senior year. At the first College Experience, BLAQUE KC donated $1,500 in scholarships to five former STEP Movement members.
Community Service
Our members are dedicated to serving the community through various service opportunities. They participate in activities such as cleaning neighborhoods, sorting donations, tutoring students, and conducting workshops for shelters. This commitment not only enhances the well-being of the community but also instills a sense of responsibility and leadership in our members. By engaging in these meaningful acts, they learn the value of giving back and making a positive impact on those around them.
Members are paired with mentors and offered internships in their areas of interest, providing valuable guidance and real-world experience to help them achieve their career goals. Currently, we have interns for marketing. We believe that even if stepping is not your gift, there is something for every youth to find, join the movement, and get involved. Our diverse opportunities ensure that all members can discover their passions, develop skills, and contribute meaningfully to the community.
